Will Cycling Team have?a roster to top 2014… time will tell Further to our announcement regarding our application for a Continental licence for 2015 we are pleased to announce our roster of new and returning riders. Before moving onto 2015 we must thank the riders who will be leaving the team and moving onto other teams or other career paths. We are super happy that Eric Sheppard, Patrick Bevin and Brendan Canty have moved onto bigger teams (Gusto, Avanti Racing and Team Budget forklifts respectively) and we wish them great success (except when they are racing us of course) in the coming season. While we are sad to see James Hepburn and Tom Donald leave the competitive arena we are certain that they will apply themselves in their new careers with the same professionalism and dedication that they have applied to their cycling careers. They will both be sorely missed by everyone. Cameron Bayly is also moving on to a team in Italy but not before riding with the team for the early part of the 2015 calendar. Cam has decided to showcase his talents to the European teams and we are certain that 2015 will be a turning point for him in his quest to turn professional. We are very lucky to have retained the services of the following riders; Stuart Shaw, Alistair Donohoe, Oliver Kent-Spark, Angus Tobin, Stuart Smith, Tim Guy and Michael Rice and we are excited to see what this great bunch of guys can achieve coming off the back of an incredibly successful year. Stuart Shaw put it well when he said ?The 2014 teams approach, effort and delivery made it an easy choice for me to return in 2015. I am looking forward to watching the growth of guys like Alistair Donohoe who epitomise what this team is all about. I am also excited to see the diamonds that we can uncover as this team has a history of successful selection and development.? The hunt for new riders was made especially challenging this year as the overall level within the team has increased so much that this has increased the expectations placed on new riders entering the team. This was a big factor in the selection process and after considering more than one hundred applications we are pleased to announce the following new riders; Alder Martz (Hincapie Racing Team in 2014), Luke Ockerby (Team Garneau-Quebecor in 2014), Logan Griffin (U23), Oliver Martin (Polygon in 2014) and Sam Dobbs (U19). The international flavour of the team continues with 2 New Zealanders (Griffin and Dobbs) and our first American (Martz). Not only is it a big step to come from an Internationally renowned team like Hincapie Racing Team it is a massive step to come from the US to race in Australia. When asked what prompted his decision, Alder explained ?I could have signed with Hincapie for a fourth year but I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and I believe that the Australian scene will suit me and allow me to reach my potential. There are so many quality races and top riders here.? When asked why he chose search2retain-health Alder said ?I chose them because of their success in 2014 and the team?s philosophy behind that success. I looked back at their results for the past few years and they have a great record of unlocking talent and having spoken extensively with the riders and team management, I am certain that this success is going to continue. Everyone I talked with had only positive things to say about the team; in the end it was the obvious choice for me.? When questioned about the 2015 roster compared to the 2014 roster, Team Manager, Mark Isaacs said ? I was really proud of the way the team finished off the 2014 season and we are hungry for more success in 2015. We?ve been able to hold onto our core group of riders that rode so selflessly to defend yellow jerseys and set up tour wins, so I?m expecting the squad to pick up where we left off in 2014. In terms of the squad for next year, we highlighted the areas of our roster that needed bolstering and to be frank, we have been spoiled for choice with so many applicants wanting to ride with us. We have bought on a number of young guys that we have a long-term vision for and with the experience of guys like Stuart Shaw to guide them through each race I feel these young guys will be the big names of the NRS in years to come. It?s definitely exciting to be a part of this program again in 2015.? The team?s full technical sponsor details will be released next week. About are Australia?s newest private health insurer.? They bring a fresh approach, easy to understand policies that add value where value is needed, excellent claims handling, and all this with a spring their step and smile on their faces.
