As a result of a highly successful 2014 season, the health.com.au-search2retain Cycling team has applied for a Continental licence for 2015. The team went from strength to strength throughout 2014 capping off the season by placing 2nd in the Tour of Gippsland; 1st place in the National Capital Tour; 1st place in the Tour of Tasmania; 1st place in the Melbourne to Warrnambool Classic and 2nd place in the Grafton to Inverell. Peter Shandon, Team Principal and Managing Director of search2retain stated that “we felt we had to apply for the higher level licence for 2015 because so many of our roster have progressed to such a high standard. With so many wins from so many of our riders, they deserve the opportunity to race the UCI races in Australia and in Asia”.

Shandon went on to say that “For the past few years Mark Isaacs (Team Manager) and I have wanted to progress to Continental licence level but needed to ensure that it would be a great experience for the team, the riders and our sponsors – we wanted to do it for the right reasons. When we sat down for our end of year review we realised that we were already competing and winning against teams like Avanti Racing and Team Budget Forklifts, and if their teams can win in the bigger UCI races then we can definitely be competitive. In some ways we didn’t have a choice; the quality of our riders has made this a natural progression and our technical sponsors such as SRAM, Wilier, Adidas and De Grandi offered support for an increased budget and race program if we took this next step.” Next year, the team will be known as search2retain-health.com.au Cycling team to reflect the increased investment by search2retain to support the new licence. search2retain launched into Talent Management during 2014, establishing services for amateurs, new professionals and professional riders and this new division has taken a minor sponsorship of the team. The team hopes to compete in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and the Jayco Herald Sun Tour in the early part of the season and selected races in Asia. The team roster and full technical sponsor details will be released later this week. About health.com.au health.com.au are Australia?s newest private health insurer.
