Team TIBCO continues to show its strength at the NRC Cascade Cycling Classic, this time with Lauren Stephens taking the team?s second stage win of the Classic with her victory on the Stage 3 Cascade Lakes Road Race. ?Early in the race, the Team was following the plan,? said Stephens. ?In the end, we were happy to get a stage win.? In today?s 70-mile, summit-finish road race, Stephens covered several late attacks, making her way up the road to take the stage win. WIth 25 kilometers to go, a group of 3 riders broke away. The field organized a chase and at 15 kilometers to go, Optum attacked with Stephens covering the move. A small chase group including Stephens formed and began to pick off the 3 riders up the road. With 10 kilometers to go, the road pitched up again. This time, Janel Holcomb launched an attack and again Stephens was able to cover the move. The duo slowly made their way to the last breakaway rider up the road. At 7 kilometers to go, the road steepened and Stephens launched a decisive attack to bridge to the lone rider. ?I slowly closed to her and we worked together to the finish,? said Stephens. ?I jumped away from her at 500 meters to go and got the win.? Once again, Canada?s U23 TT Champion Jasmin Glaesser was the top young rider and she retained the Best Young Rider jersey. Claudia Haeusler kept the Queen of the Mountain jersey as well as held onto her 2nd place in the general classification standings. There are two stages left in the Cascade Classic. Tomorrow, riders race the 50-minute Stage 4 Downtown Bend Criterium.
