After another solid showing at the National Capital Tour which saw Josh Berry finish 11th on overall GC and Scott Bradburn 29th, Cellarbrations Racing Team heads to next week?s Tour of Tasmania brimming with confidence, and bolstered by three new riders. Berry, Bradburn and Matt Slee all raced last week in Canberra, and will be joined in Tasmania by U19 flyer Dylan Sunderland, together with two exciting guest riders ? QLD Elite Men?s Criterium Champion Aaron Watts and Danish U23 Andreas Pihl Nielsen. Gold Coast-based Watts boasts NRS experience in 2013 and 2014, with his best result coming in last year?s 228km Grafton to Inverell Classic where he finished 24th when racing for the Downer EDI?Mining squad. Aaron also raced in last year?s Tour of Tasmania so he knows the terrain and what to expect. Nielsen is a first-year U23 rider from Denmark who is spending the European off-season in Australia. He was the final rider cut from the Danish Junior World Championships squad in 2013 and is an accomplished climber and time trialler. Andreas excels in the longer, tougher races (meaning he?s arrived in Australia at just the right time) and has recorded podiums at several UCI 2.1 races in Europe this season where he?s been racing regularly against riders such as Stefan Schumacher, Alex Rasmussen and Magnus Cort who recently signed with Orica-GreenEDGE. ?We didn?t have a lot of luck in Canberra with a few untimely mechanicals and especially losing Declan (Baker) to a crash on stage 3 when he was in the top 30 overall,? says CRT Team Director, Russell Menzies. ?But we still nearly cracked the top 10 on GC and finished 8th on the team?s classification which is a solid return for a squad still in its first-ever NRS season.? ?Josh Berry and Scott Bradburn are flying right now,? Menzies continues. ?Matt Slee is getting stronger with every race, and with the addition of the three new guys, we?re going to Tasmania with a lot of optimism. Dylan and Aaron have both raced in Tassie before which is a big bonus, and Andreas is a really interesting one, on paper things should really suit him ? who knows, maybe he could win the whole thing? Certainly the stage one time trial is a great chance to show the NRS what he can do.? Cellarbrations Racing Team squad for 2014 Tour of Tasmania: Josh Berry, Scott Bradburn, Matt Slee, Dylan Sunderland (U19), Aaron Watts, Andreas?Pihl?Nielsen (U23).
