Drapac Professional Cycling are happy to welcome British former-professional Tom Southam to the team as sports director for 2015. Southam had previously ridden for Drapac ? Porsche in 2007, when he moved to Australia following a number of years racing in Italy. ? Since his retirement from racing in 2011, Southam has worked as press-officer and assistant manager at the British Rapha Condor JLT team, where he has twice guided young riders to overall victory in the Tour of Korea, amongst other successes. ? ?Often the best things that come along just feel like a very natural fit. As soon as the opportunity came up with Drapac, it made complete sense to me. Not only in terms of where I am in my own career, but also the fact that my own ambitions are mirrored in the goals of this team, and it?s an organization that I?ve known for a number of years.?? ? ?It has been seven years since I was a part of the team, but I saw Drapac at a number of races this year and last and have always been highly impressed with the team?s professionalism and development.? ? General manager of the team Jonathan Breekveldt said, ? “Its always great to welcome back a former team member in Tom, although in a significantly difference role. ?Tom’s methodology and theories are all synchronous with those at Drapac Professional Cycling and he will be a natural fit for the role and challenges that lie ahead for the 2015 season. ?2014?was out most successful season to date and I am sure that with Tom’s influence we can make 2015 another standout and take another step forward. ? Southam will join the team at their first training camp in Melbourne at the start of December, where he will start getting to know the 2015 Drapac line-up, and work with the other sports directors on finalizing the finer details of rider race programs for the upcoming season. ? ?Obviously it is a new challenge for me, but I am not coming in to it completely cold. I am always striving to do the best job in anything I can do, and I have been lucky enough to have an amazing network of people around me over the past few years. In particular I owe a debt of gratitude to John Herety who has given me a great deal of advice during my time at Rapha Condor JLT.?
