Oliver’s Real Racing to race in Asia

Team to tackle racing in Asia

The Oliver’s Real Food Racing Team today announced their participation in two UCI AsiaTour events to continue early season preparations for the 2016 Subaru National Road Series. The team will take part in the 7th edition of Le Tour de Filipinas in the Philippines from 18-21 February. This will be followed by the inaugural Tour of Sarawak in Malaysia from 16-20 March.

Both races carry a 2.2 classification from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), thus allowing the team to participate in the events as a national level team.

“We are very excited about this opportunity. Not just for the experience it will yield for your young riders, but also the racing it will give them in preparation for the National Road Series.” Team manager Sam Layzell said of the opportunity for the team to compete in Asia for the first time.

“From our teams point of view, it provides us with a good stepping stone into UCI competition without any real strain on our budget. With our view to register as a Continental outfit as early as 2017, this gives us a chance to race at a higher level, with the long term goal to receive invites to Australian UCI races such as last weeks Jayco Herald Sun Tour and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race”

The Oliver’s team also attend the Oceania Road Titles in Bendigo on March 5. Before the Subaru National Road Series commences with the Tour of Toowoomba on 28th April.
