Chloe Moran (SASI) has capped off an excellent individual performance by claiming Round 5 of the Focus Women’s Series.

Round 5 of the series was set to be a crucial race in the overall picture of the series as Carlee TAYLOR (USG Racing Team) was unavailable for the round.

This gave series leader, Dani McKinnirey (SASI) further hope to increase her lead at the top of the general classification leaderboard.

The riders hit the track at 6.15pm in what was a warm evening at Adelaide’s Victoria Park criterium circuit.

Team SASI featured heavily at the front of the peloton and it was SASI’s Chloe Moran who attempted a solo breakaway with just a few laps remaining.

Moran set a high pace and was able to maintain a commanding lead over the peloton. As the peloton ramped up the pace in an attempt to pull Moran back, it was a case of ‘too little, too late’ as Moran crossed the finish line, claiming Round 5 of the Focus Women’s Series.

The bunch sprint for second place was intense, with crucial points up for grabs. Series leader, Dani McKinnirey, claimed second position in front of Ruby Roseman Gannon (USG Racing Team) finishing third. Port Adelaide Cycling Club’s Jenny Macpherson had a case of deja vu, finishing in fourth position as she did last week.

Dani McKinnirey keeps her lead in the series as the riders turn their attention to Round 6 on Sunday 20 December.
