CLASSIC TO KICK OFF 2016 SUBARU NATIONAL ROAD SERIES

The 2016 Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic will be the opening round of this year?s Subaru National Road Series. The race will settle into its new autumn date of May 7 with the added excitement of being round one of the Australia wide series.

Cycling Australia CEO, Nick Green said ?The Grafton to Inverell has a long history and Cycling Australia is proud to be associated. Such a challenging, one day classic is sure to test the riders in the first men?s event of the Subaru National Road Series?

Organisation of the event is well under way with traffic management and race plans on schedule. Organisers have been receiving a lot of positive feedback on the new date and are expecting a large field across all three grades.

Organising committee member Peter Sunderland said ?We are hopeful of a very strong field in the NRS A grade especially with the postponement of the Tour of Toowoomba and Battle on the Border. Teams and riders will be looking to make the most of the limited racing opportunities in the early parts of the season.?

?The prospects for good fields in the B & C grades are equally exciting. We have had a great deal of positive feedback from riders looking to race in the lower grades with the earlier date allowing them to enjoy better training conditions leading into the race.?

Entries are now open via the Cycling NSW website. The race will be officially launched later in March.
