Since forming in 2013, JML Racing – more than a cycling team – has been developing a team of riders on and off the bike that would be ready to take on the National Road Series. That time is now.

Under the guidance of Henk Vogels as Director of Performance, and with the support of fantastic sponsors, JML Racing is set to light up the domestic cycling scene across Australia in 2016.

Living the team ethos of ‘more than a cycling team’, JML Racing will be involved in National Road Series races, cycling advocacy, Gran Fondos, World Amateur and Masters Championships and will consist of an U23, Elite and Masters squad in 2016. There is also a separate Open Masters ambassador, cycling advocacy and training squad.

Team Manager Henk Vogels is confident of the potential in the squad he has put together.

“Joining the JML Racing Team and becoming a part of this terrific project is a perfect opportunity to get back into the National Road Series and really nurture the young talent in Australian cycling, and to support them in their lives both on and off the bike.” said Vogels.

“Thanks to our major sponsors Cocowhip and Bikebug, we have an excellent foundation that we can build on in 2016 and beyond. We will continue to build this young team into outstanding riders on the bike and people off the bike.”

Returning to the team in 2016 and making the step up to the NRS level is Levi Johns.

“JML Racing has turned my life around. I could easily have given up on my riding dream. Jon and JML Racing not only give me a chance on the bike but build my skills, confidence and self esteem in life. Put in for the team and the team will 100% look after you” said Johns.

The team has been able to step up to the national level thanks to the continuing support of long time sponsors, as well as the injection of enthusiasm that new sponsors bring.

“Cocowhip is proud to be a major sponsor for JML Racing.  Cycling is a physically taxing sport that requires optimal nutritional intake to both train and perform to your best. Cocowhip was designed not only to be a delicious treat but to provide athletes optimal macro and micro nutrients post-exercise in the form of hydration, complex carbohydrates and electrolytes. We share JML Racing’s ethos about healthy exercise, healthy living, competition and developing some of the best young athletes in Australia. We also share their passion for advocacy for a better environment for cycling and cycling as an everyday pursuit. We are excited to be working with the JML Racing Team” said Cocowhip director Danny Bogatie.

BikeBug have also jumped on board for 2016, CEO Frank Fortuna is looking forward to the road ahead.

“It’s been a pleasure to partner with Jon, Henk and the JML Racing team, they’re a great bunch of people with outstanding principals. We look forward to a great season and a lengthy association.” said Fortuna.

The team will first be in action at the 2016 Mars Cycling Australia Road National Championships, where they will be well represented in the U23 & Elite events, as well as in the inaugural Australian Gran Fondo Championships.
