By?Keagan Girdlestone???@Keagan_vtc Final stage of Battle on the Border! After a fantastic start to the tour with Daniel Fitter and me moving into the top 10 on GC, Jake Magee in the Green Jersey and 3rd overall team,? it was up to us to not only defend our positions but also to be aggressive as we had before. After the neutral zone ended it was a scramble to get an early break away. Like all of the road stages before it, a break would go and CharterMason would be represented.? This time we had Morgan Smith and Jacob Restall up the road taking maximum points in all sprint points making sure that no one could take green off of Jake. The team worked so well together that Morgan and Jacob both leapfrogged 4th and 5th in this classification. (tied on 3rd place, with the result decided by rock, scissor, paper) The final KOM split the bunch into pieces but somehow we managed to get it all back together after a few kilometers. Knowing that both Daniel Fitter and Josh Taylor were fast and sneaky when it came to the finish it was decided that we would see how they could go. As expected the run in to the finish was absolute chaos… in fact chaos is an understatement!? My job was to make sure I never lost a second in the run in as I could lose 5th on GC to Mark Williams from Budget Forklifts who was only 2 seconds behind. Fraser Gough went solo a few kilometers to the finish and stayed away while Josh Taylor finished 4th in the sprint, Daniel Fitter finished 8th and I was the last rider to get bunch time… cutting it fine… The end result was a fantastic one! We worked together as a true team and was the first time some of us rode together as a team. I believe CharterMason Giant Racing made their mark at Battle on the Border and we can only improve from here! Bring on the rest of the NRS!!!
