Legs For Legends: Australian Army Team Tackles Nullarbor On Bikes

Commando Welfare Trust Three Australian Army soldiers will swap their weapons for wheels, cycling across the Nullarbor Plain to honour the commandos and specialist engineers from Army?s Special Operations Command who have been killed or wounded in action in Afghanistan, and their families. ?Legs for Legends? will be an emotional journey. The team will ride 1200kms across the Nullarbor, commencing in Norseman, Western Australia on 25 June, and concluding at Ceduna in South Australia on 9 July. Each leg of the journey is dedicated to a soldier who has been killed in action, with the final leg dedicated to wounded soldiers. The riders will wear the names of their fallen ?brothers in arms? on their backs. Ray Palmer, the father of Scott Palmer, a commando who was killed in action in 2010, will form part of the support crew for the epic ride. Ray continues to show his support for the boys and the Commando Welfare Trust, who are raising funds through the ride. The Commando Welfare Trust provides discretionary funds through a Board of Trustees to support the families of serving and ex-serving members of Special Operations Command east coast units, who have been killed or wounded in the course of their duty.
