So as I sit down with some milk and biccies, flick on MASH, and get ready to write the Phoenix race report from today just let me say – How good is it to be able to race an NRS tour and sleep in your own bed!!

The day started with us all meeting up at McCosker’s joint for a small team smack-talking session, and we headed out to Googong dam for the opening time trial. So we all jumped in our mainy beasts (cars) and cruised out… the ‘deo majesty playing Barnsey and repping the long horn stickers, which were glistening in the sun.

After parking up, getting the trainers out, and getting ready, we were all in good spirits and keeping a close eye on the wind. Haydo was off first and as he was spinning up a storm I was throwing stuff around the back of my ute looking for a Torq gel. I ended up with a fishing hook (that was attached to a fishing rod) hooked in my skinny… thank god Scotty was there to save me! But as my supermodel missus would say, “I am a great catch.”

So as the boys came back puffing and buckled, next thing I knew it was my turn. I went out the gate like a scalded cat! I hauled arse down that wicked descent then ripped myself a new one of the insane climb – I should not have left it in the big dog!! I grovelled to line making it in in 11:36 – good enough for 32nd overall and 12 in the young rider classification.

After I finished puffing up my guts and downed a Cookies and Cream Torq Recovery drink, Stage 2 was looming on my mind…

So the boys finished in:

Scotty 90th

Haydo 125th

Nath 92nd

Anthony 88th

Steve 130th (dropped his chain)

Kelsey 48th

Ruggedly handsome cowboy 32nd
