Throughout my motorcycle years I was always very active in maintaining a high level of fitness & spent a number of weeks at the AIS as part of training camps. I did one crit race at the end of 2010 & that was all that was needed to make me decide I had found my outlet & a new challenge. Christmas Day I told my wife what I had planned & she was glad that I had something to get me out of the house on weekends. My learning curve was steep & I jumped in the deep end early going well outside my comfort zone but that did help me get to a better level much quicker. A few key events throughout the 2011 season made me realize my possible potential & set some more specific goals. As my goals got better & tougher the results followed suit, after winning the historic Melbourne to Ballarat a trip to Belgium was capped off by finishing 4th in the world after only racing for nine months. These results were noticed by Team Kosdown & I was grateful to be picked up after a few months of racing & that confidence was reflected in the following results. From there I collected two National Championships then a few more strong results that set me up to go on to win at the Bay Crit series & finish 7th in the Elite Nationals directly after that. Now I am presented an incredible opportunity to race in the top end of the sport here in Australia the NRS series, which I have some tough goals I have set myself I still need to sit back & take stock of where & how I got here. Kind of makes me think what could have been if I started racing at 20 & not 30…..
