Round 3 Queensland Teams Series
By erdingeralkoholfrei-downeredimining?(Twitter @ErdingerDowner) The 3rd round of the Queensland Road Teams Series was hosted in the small town of Gatton and consisted of a 15km Individual Time Trial and two road races, with both races clocking up just less than 110km each. The weekend kicked off with perfect weather for the 90 cyclists competing in the Individual Time Trial which was one lap of the first road race course. The 15km loop started on the outskirts of Gatton and headed over some small rolling hills then back into Gatton and a small loop around the town. Jordan Kerby (Eclipse Pro Cycling) posted the fastest time of the day which was enough to move him into the leaders jersey, while closely followed by Marc Williams (Budget Forklifts) and Michael Cupitt (Budget Forklifts) rounded out the top 3. Ben Carman was the fastest Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining rider of the day completing the TT with a time of 21:22:39. The next race was a fast 106km Road Race held over the same course. Being a fast circuit made it almost impossible for a break to establish . But this did not stop Kristian Juel (Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining) taking out 5 of the 7 KOM sprints and one 2nd placing moving himself into 2nd in the KOM classification. With 15km to go and not one break being able to get more than a few seconds on the field Reuben Donati (Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining) tried a solo move and looked as if he was going to ride away from the rest of the race but with 5km to go the bunch pulled him back. Soon as the peloton got on to the back of Reuben?s wheel he attacked again taking with him 7 riders including team mate Kristian Juel. The 7riders held of the rest of the field with Reuben Donati (Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining) coming home in 4th place and Kristian Juel (Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining) 7th. Jacob Restall (TDU) took out the race followed by Nicholas Schultz (QAS) and Thomas Collier (Pensar ? Hawk Racing) Sunday saw the final stage of round 3 of the Queensland Road Teams Series. This was a 110km road race littered with short sharp climbs held over a 22km circuit. Kristian Juel (Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining) was out to get some more KOM points taking out 1st in the 1st sprint and 2nd in the next. At the 40km mark a small break of 5 riders went clear gaining over 1 minute on the bunch and leaving Kristian Juel stuck in the unfortunate position in no man?s land. The race came back together with 25km to go and at the 88km mark Reuben Donati (Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining) went on the attack taking 6 riders with him and the 6 managed to hold of the rest with Alex Wohler (TDU) coming home 1st followed by Jacob Restall (TDU) 2nd and Reuben Donati (Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining) making the podium After 3 rounds (9stages) of the Queensland Road Teams Series, the top 5 team?s classification stands: 1st Team Budget Forklifts 2nd Eclipse Pro Cycling 3rd TDU 4th Erdinger Alkoholfrei ? Downer Edi Mining 5th QAS In the Individual Overall Classification Reuben Donati sits inside the top ten in 9th whilst Kristian Juel sits in second place in the King Of The Mountain Classification.
