It was an incredible day on the road for Omega Pharma – Quick-Step Cycling Team, taking home four national road championships in a single day: [W:Niki Terpstra] in the Dutch National Championship, [W:Tom Boonen] in the Belgian National championship, Michal Golas in the Polish National Championship and Matt Brammeier in the Irish National Championship.

“I’m happy about my performance” said Terpstra about his Dutch victory. “I have to say that I surprised myself. We were in a little group and I tried to accelerate to split the group and make it smaller but I remained alone. At that point I took the risk and I did a time trial. I like these kind of races with bad weather conditions. It’s my second title, and the first win was great, but this one, with a solo ride. is even better!”

“It’s my first national title” Golas said after winning in Poland. “It’s a great joy! I have to thank Kwiatkowski. Michal was in the breakaway, and I could stay relaxed in the group, saving energy for the final. In the last kilometers I decided to make the sprint. I won in a sprint group, so this makes my victory even more special. I devote this victory to my wife and my little daughter. Now I really can’t wait to dress in this jersey at the Tour of Poland!”

“For me it’s something special to win in front of all my supporters in my region” Boonen said about his win in Belgium. “It was a difficult race. Actually I was happy about the rain, because I knew that in these kind of weather conditions the race would have been even harder in the final. When I attacked, I thought I could try solo, but there was too much wind. After a while I attacked again because there wasn’t a great collaboration in our small group. The team was super strong today and in the final I counted on a great Julien Vermote, who did a great job for me. I finalized the good team work. I’m in good condition ? I really worked hard in the last week. As I said, after the Classics this was my goal. Now I can look forward to the Olympics and train hard for my next goal.” ?It?s my third title in a row but it wasn?t easy,? Brammeier said about his win in Ireland. ?From the start there were a lot of attacks. I managed to follow all the attacks. In the final lap we were with three guys left. At 2km from the finish I attacked, and I went alone. It?s always a good feeling when you can win alone.?
