Lotto Belisol is running great in the [W:Tour of Belgium]. Andr? Greipel showed his speed in stage 3 in a sprint and won his third consecutive race. The team did a great job preparing the sprint and dropped the German perfectly off at 150 meters before the finish line, enabling Greipel to win his tenth win. [W:Andr? Greipel]: ?The team made it easy for me, I only had to make sure to stay close. At two kilometers before the finish line we took matters in our own hands and the team did an excellent preparation. The last kilometers were very dangerous, but everyone got through okay. I can only be proud of the guys. We are here to refine our sprint preparation. On day 1 it was fine, yesterday we lost each other a bit, but today we got everyone together in the final kilometers.? Sports Director Michiel Elijzen: ?It?s always fun to be a sports director, but in cases like this, it?s even more fun. It gives great satisfaction to see the theory get translated into action. The race was pretty predictable, although the wind played its role. We have to thank the boys from Omega Pharma ? Quick Step for their work during the race. They wanted to get the front group back because of the general ranking, while we wanted a mass sprint. The preparation and the sprint itself were the best of the three past days. Our train with Sieberg, Roelandts and Henderson was spot on and Andr? made a great finish. The Tour of Belgium may not cast the best riders, but it?s ideally to train and refine our automatisms.? Adam Blythe registered his fourth top five finish of the season ? and his second at the Tour of Belgium ? with third place in Friday’s race that ended with a third straight bunch sprint won by Andr? Greipel (Lotto Belisol Team). Blythe’s result was his best since finishing third at the Handzame Classic March 16. It also earned him the white jersey of best young rider. “With about five kilometers to go, I tried to get as close as I could to Marcus (Burghardt) and then we found each other and (Michael) Sch?r took me to the front,” Blythe said. “Just before the 2 km banner, I was on Danilo Napolitano’s wheel, but then it stayed in single file to the finish.” Directeur Sportif John Lelangue said the [W:BMC Racing Team] tried several times to split the peloton in the crosswind section of the finishing circuit. Though the acceleration did not force a selection, it did contribute to the chase and catch of five riders who had broken away earlier in the 173.5 km stage. “The final loop was really tricky and one part of the team protected [W:Philippe Gilbert] while the other helped position Blythe in the top five for the last kilometer,” Lelangue said. Saturday’s penultimate stage is a flat, 20 km individual time trial. 2012 Tour of Belgium Stage 3 Results & General Classification
