The Lounge Room Ride
Hello and welcome to the 2012 edition of The Lounge Room Ride! “What’s The Lounge Room Ride??” I hear you ask… Well for some crazy reason, Cycling Cafe’s journo-supreme Simon Cadzow, and I have decided that we will ride every single stage of the 2012 Tour de France on our stationary trainers! This ride started out as a way of earning a few extra steps as part of the Global Corporate Challenge (i’m briniging up the rear on my team) and has now eveolved into a full blown fund raiser for some of Australia’s most deserving people. Anyone who has been part of a well thought out & executed plan knows you need a good 6 months to write lists, have meetings, contact sponsors and well most importantly, plan. This is anything but! Two weeks ago we conjured up this idea, and thanks to some wonderful sponsors, it seems that we will hit the start line on Saturday in the best position possible! So, the plan? Throughout the Tour, we will sit on our trainers in the lounge room, and ride. We will be riding for Autism SA & the ARMY of Autism Awareness Angels. But we won’t be doing this ride alone: Capilano Honey Shotz have provided more than enough energy to spin through the night. Expect sparks to fly off our trainers! 2XU are providing the compression wear that will see us recover as well as [W:Cadel Evans]. We may not ride as well, but that won’t be the recovery tights fault 🙂 Nalini Lonsdale are keeping our asses from causing too much pain on the bike, by supplying us with awesome Nalini kniocks from their 2012 range. Sandra from I Can Personal Training will be stretching our our sore & tired limbs. AppFusion?have helped to put the site together in record time. east13photography?are providing the photos, and will capture the pain! And a big thankyou goes to the team at Richmond Cyclery for giving my bike a much needed service at the last minute, after i forgot all about it! How can I be involved? Well, donate! We’re going old school, asking people to make a pledge for us to complete the ride. Our aim is for 100 people to donate $21, representing $1 for every stage and a total of $2100 for our charities. Obviously if you want to donate more, go for it! Or maybe you don’t think we can do it?? If you believe it’s impossible, bet against us completing this for $500. If we fail, you keep your money and receive a month of free advertising for your company or chosen charity. When we succeed, we’ll be chasing you up! Please email us to bet. You can make a donation through our Everyday Heroes page, or follow the link?at the top of the page?to make a pledge and we’ll email you at the completion of the ride. There will be regular updates on our Facebook page, and if we can manage it, we’ll Tweet during stages as well. Hashtag #LoungeRoomRide
