Wyman, Teunissen and Van der Poel Newly Crowned European Cyclo-Cross Champions

Helen Wyman, Mike Teunissen and Mathieu van der Poel have become the new European Cyclo-Cross Champions in Ipswich, Great Britain. Helen Wyman took the title after outsprinting Dutch Sanne van Paassen on the finish line after battling for the win from the start. Initially Nikki Harris (3rd) was in front too but she had to let the two others go with two laps to go. Christel Ferrier-Bruneau and Sanne Cant completed the top five. In the U23 race Dutch Mike Teunissen was the successor of his compatriot and double U23 World Champion Lars van der Haar. Teunissen dominated the race from the start and was the most challenged by the French riders Clement Venturini and Juan Alaphilippe. In the end Teunissen was the fastest in a sprint with five with Corne van Kessel finishing second and Alaphilippe third. Belgians Jens Adams and Wout van Aert rounded off the top five. The Junior-Men’s race was once again a one-man show of Mathieu van der Poel. World Champion Van der Poel took his 8th win of the season with a lead of over 30 seconds on France’s Clement Russo.
